Questions and answers
Is there an app in English for the Taiwan scooter license test? Is it free?
Yes. The app is called “Taiwan Moto License Test” and it is free on the App Store and on Google Play. It is supported by ads.
You do not need an account: your progress is saved on your phone.
Is the app made by the Highway Bureau?
No. Taiwan Moto License Test is published by App Theories and is not affiliated with Taiwan's Highway Bureau or any government agency. Its questions come from the question bank that the Highway Bureau publishes.
Can I practice on a computer, or without installing anything?
Yes. This site has a 50-question practice test that works on a phone or a computer, with no download and no sign-up.
The full question bank and the hazard-perception video questions are in the app.
Which languages does it have?
The app's questions, answers and explanations are in Chinese, English, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian, and you can switch at any time.
The practice test on this site is in Chinese, English, Vietnamese and Indonesian.
How is the app's mock exam put together?
Like the written test: 50 multiple-choice questions, 15 of them hazard perception, drawn at random from all four topics of the bank. A new paper avoids the questions of your last 2 papers while there are others to choose from.
A timer runs while you answer. At the end you see your score right away and can review the paper, redo only your mistakes or start a new paper. For a few spare minutes, Quick 10 gives you 10 questions, 3 of them hazard perception.
What does the “Why?” button show?
After you answer, Why? opens a short explanation of the right answer in the language you study in. Most questions have one.
If a question, its translation, its picture or video, or its explanation looks wrong, tap Report a question error under it and choose what is wrong. Reports reach us with the anonymous usage statistics, so the setting Share anonymous usage statistics has to be on.
What are “Most missed 100” and “Most bookmarked 100”?
Two lists on the app's Home screen, made from the totals of what its learners do: the 100 questions they most often answer wrong, ranked by the share of wrong answers and allowing for how many people answered, and the 100 questions they bookmark most. Each list shows the date of its last update.
Tap a question to see its answer and explanation, or practice the whole list. Your progress shows how many of the 100 you have answered correctly, and a question on a list carries a small badge whenever you come across it while practicing.
What does “Readiness” mean?
It looks at your last 5 mock exams. “Ready” needs all three: an average of at least 90%, no paper with more than 7 wrong answers (the most a pass at 85 allows), and on average at least 13 of the 15 hazard-perception questions right. With fewer than 3 mock exams it is not judged yet.
It describes your practice, not the real test, so it is no promise that you will pass.
Can I stop a test and finish it later?
Yes. Leave with Save & exit and the test waits on the Home screen for 7 days. If you switch to another app during a timed test, the timer pauses until you come back.
Does the app get updates to the question bank?
Yes. The app can install a corrected or updated question bank without a new version from the store, and its Home screen shows the date of the bank it uses.
How many questions are in the written test, and what is the pass mark?
50 multiple-choice questions; you pass with 85.
True/false questions were dropped on 30 January 2026, and 15 of the questions (30%) are hazard perception. Sources (in Chinese): MVDIS news, Taipei Motor Vehicles Office.
What do I have to do before I can book the test?
Complete the hazard-perception video exercise first: 10 videos, at least 8 answered correctly, and watch all the explanation videos. Only then can you book on the MVDIS site; the result is valid for one year.
First-time applicants for an ordinary motorcycle license also take a 120-minute safety class before registering. Sources (in Chinese): MVDIS news, Taipei Motor Vehicles Office.
